High-speed steels, tool steels, stainless steels, PH steels, maraging steels, Ni and Co-based superalloys…
Vacuum heat treatments currently represent the most advanced solution for imparting high-performance metals with stable mechanical properties over time. This technology, performed with vacuum furnaces and pressurized gas quenching, allows for the processing of high-speed steels, tool steels, stainless steels, pH steels, maraging steels, and nickel- and cobalt-based superalloys with the utmost precision.
Tecma Srl, based in Brescia, specializes in vacuum heat treatments for companies in the metalworking sector, offering certified quality and state-of-the-art equipment to meet the most complex production needs.

How vacuum heat treatments work
Vacuum technology eliminates oxygen and unwanted gases during the thermal cycle, creating a controlled environment that prevents oxidation and decarburization of surfaces. Thanks to software control of process parameters, it is possible to:
- precisely manage the cooling rate based on the material and geometry of the part
- adapt the shutdown pressure, times and cooling zones to obtain the required mechanical characteristics
- ensure a homogeneous structure and consistent performance on production batches
Vacuum hardening is used both for the solution annealing treatment of austenitic and precipitation hardening (PH) stainless steels, and for the processing of Ni and Co superalloys intended for high-performance applications.
Advantages of vacuum technology
Choosing vacuum heat treatments offers numerous advantages:
- Surfaces free from oxidation and decarburization, without the need for further finishing processes
- Uniformity of treatment and reduction of deformations, even on complex pieces
- Precise parameter control to meet the most stringent specifications
- Flexibility in handling different types of materials, from high-speed steels to superalloys
- Ability to manage both small batches and large industrial productions.
