What is ferritic nitrocarburizing and why choose the Tenifer® process?

Ferritic nitrocarburizing for heat treatments on molds consists of the surface enrichment of the steel with nitrogen and carbon, performed at temperatures lower than those of the austenitic transformation.

In the Tenifer® Treatment process, immersion of the components in a bath of liquid salts allows for speeding up the treatment:

at the same effective thickness, the processing time is reduced by up to 1/3 compared to gas nitriding;
the uniform penetration of nitrogen and carbon improves mechanical characteristics and corrosion resistance.
